Merging features

The Merge Feature tool allows you to join separate features of the same type as one feature.

1.	If the Map Tools pane is not expanded, in the map viewer, click the Map Tools button.

2.	On the Map Tools pane, click the More Tools button and then click Editing. The Editing window opens.

3.	In the Edit Layer field, select the layer where you want to merge features.

4.	Click the Start Selection for Editing icon . The Selections window opens.

5.	Click a selection tool appropriate for the type of feature you want to select.

6.	Select the features to merge with the tool. The features are selected on the map and in the Results window.

7.	Click the Merge Features icon .

The map and Results window refreshes to show that all selected items have been merged as a single feature.
