Performing a Geoportal search in OnPoint You can search for map data, metadata or any other elements held in Geoportal using the Geoportal search tool in OnPoint. 1. If the Map Tools pane is not expanded, in the map viewer, click the Map Tools button. 2. On the Map Tools pane, click the More Tools button and then select the Geoportal Search tool. In the text box in the upper left corner of the dialog box, enter a keyword or topic that identifies the map data you are looking for. 4. In the Select Geoportal Server drop-down list, select the Geoportal site where you want to search for map data. 5. You must indicate the geographic area in which you want to search. You have these choices: Table 42 Options for indicating coverage area in a Geoportal search Option Description Anywhere A search is carried out in the entire area covered by the map in OnPoint. (Click the Full Extent control on the direction indicator to view the full coverage of the map.) Within the current map extent A search is carried out only in the currently displayed portion of the map in OnPoint. 6. Click the Search button. 7.
