A active layer The active layer is the default map layer that is selected when you use the Identify tool or select features on the map. The active layer can be changed to make it more convenient when you use some layers more frequently than others. See layer. active result set The most recent set of features returned after you have performed a search or a selection. By default, the features returned from the last search or selection are displayed in the Results window. You can have multiple Results windows if they have run multiple searches or performed multiple selections during the same session. You have the option of selecting any result set in the Result window to make it the active result set. Only one result set can be active at any time. Add My Point An icon that is part of the Map Markup tool set that allows you to add a point on a map. attribute data Information about a feature that is not spatial in nature (not a map feature). This information, such as data about people, places, things, business rules and events, is typically stored in a database that is accessible through the map using various map tools.
